Yaakov Mascetti

Yaakov (Jacopo) Mascetti is assistant professor of Comparative Literature at Bar Ilan University in Israel. He specializes on Renaissance religious poetry, and has a soft-spot for complexity and amphibious mind-sets. He has published on John Donne, George Herbert, Aemilia Lanyer and John Milton, and is an associate editor of the academic journal Common Knowledge published by Duke University Press. He has translated works by Roberto Calasso and Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, and is presently working on a piece on the chaotic theology of Pope Francis 1st. His forthcoming book on Tokens of Love has yet to be completed, and will present a contextualized re-reading of religious lyric of the first half of the seventeenth-century, focusing on conceptions of signs and meaning in Donne, Herbert and Lanyer.
